A 3D animated film for Karol G's Manana Sera Bonito Fest, the two night festival that took over Medellin. Built to show what waited before anyone arrived.
The map arrived before the crowd
An overhead render lays out the grounds: stage areas, attractions, characters placed where the crowd would stand, colour typography across white ground. From there the film drops into the scenes themselves. A devil and an angel in a playground under a rainbow. A carousel on a flower covered hill beneath a purple sky. Cartoon characters with a rainbow arch, coloured spheres, a skull and a cactus on a purple gradient. Characters on stage with a night crowd below them. Every character went through clay and textured turntables before any of it was rendered. The film moves through the grounds the way a visitor would, one attraction at a time.
Nobody had walked the festival yet
Animating it was the only way to show two days as they would feel rather than as a lineup poster. What the film promised is what the two nights delivered, attraction by attraction.
