Beauty is an elusive beast. With De.still, Nea Studio went looking for its logic by deforming, deconstructing and decomposing it, until nothing was left.
A film that takes things apart
Grainy ellipses cover a portrait inside an editorial black and white composition, framed by small data marks. A hypnotic spiral replaces a face over binary code. Deconstructed typography spells humanity beside a grainy close up of an eye, and lucky beside a close up of lips. A heel gets covered in organic green texture. A sneaker explodes into fragments. The logotype sits beside a zebra herd cut into a circle, with experimental timestamps running past it. Every element arrives whole and leaves in pieces, and the film never puts any of them back together. That is the argument, made without a single line of explanation.
The same logic runs the website
Pixelated faces in a grid, ornamental patterns transitioning, a video player built on an editorial layout. 2D and 3D motion carrying one idea. Nothing explains the brand. It performs the brand's logic until the logic runs out.
