_Living Mesh is a textile designed to heal land contaminated by oil, made from fique fibers and infused with oil-eating bacteria that biodegrade hydrocarbons in under 30 days. Lightweight, biodegradable, and easy to deploy, it was developed by Atratus and Universidad de los Andes as a response to Colombia’s alarming number of land-based oil spills, many of them caused by the country’s ongoing armed conflict.
VML Colombia and Macarena invited us to bring the product’s science and impact to life through a compelling 3D visual case study. At Nea Studio, we translated complex biotechnological innovation into a visual story the world could see, feel, and believe.
This project is the glad winner of a Bronze Cannes Lion in Innovation.
